Cura Bella People...Meet the Extended Family
Cura Bella is a family business with a big heart and old soul. Owners Mary Beth Mitchell and Jim Alford treat the salon staff as extended family. That means celebrating lots of occasions from engagements to birthdays to baby showers.
And for the Mitchell family, there's that late in life "baby" named Cura Bella that they all adore. Mary Beth welcomes
support from husband John, an active behind-the-scenes participant who currently serves as
Chief Sounding Board for his wife’s endless stream of new ideas and inspiring
thoughts. Daughters Natalie and
Caitlin are both big sisters actively involved in nurturing baby Cura Bella. Natalie was instrumental in setting up the accounting system for the salon and liked it so much, she went on to get a college degree in finance! Caitlin is, when she's not a full time college student at Ohio University, at Cura Bella learning the business and doing whatever needs to be done at that moment!
Jim and Mary Beth lead a staff of talented designers. Soon, we'll publish bio's of each hair stylist. Stay tuned in.

Meet Mary BethA people-person with a natural affinity for
listening and understanding, Mary Beth is a born nurturer. She is drawn to all that is creative
and especially loves working with her hands…in the garden soil, at the sewing
machine or in the kitchen debuting a new recipe. Happily hosting gatherings for her large extended family,
Mary Beth thrives among people. She is an avid gardener and is especially fond
of herbs and the miraculous healing power they have. A graduate of the Larry Moore Universite’ of Hair Design,
she has been doing hair for over 20 years and continues to find something new
to love about it daily.

Meet Jim
A true renaissance man, Jim has an affinity for working with his hands. He is a hair stylist by profession, but Jim's passion for the art of woodworking and penchant for boat building calls him to the workshop as often as
possible. His penchant for handcrafting beauty from natural materials
provides a serene space to recharge hrough the quietly creative artisan craft.
Jim spends his downtime with his family and especially loves coaching his sons' baseball teams. Jim graduated from Moeller Hair School and has been doing
hair in Cincinnati for over 20 years.
"There is such a sense of satisfaction in the simple act of handling and cutting wood. And it's kind of my alter ego, where I'm silent and monk-like as opposed to my salon personality which is upbeat and easy-going. I love talking to my clients and co-workers...it's part of why I love what I do. But to retreat into a quiet wood shop is how I recharge."
